The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has cracked their whip, inflicting a $5,000 fine on Egypt for failing to meet its media obligations in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opening game against Zimbabwe.

Both players band officials of the Egyptian national team botched to attend the post-match conference as mandated by the continental football governing body (CAF) after triumphing over Zimbabwe.

However, CAF has imposed a hefty fine on the Egyptian FA for breaching the rules, which require teams to make players and officials available to the press after matches.

Besides, CAF has issued a formal warning to the seven-time African champions. The football body emphasized that more severe sanctions could follow if Egypt repeats the violation during the tournament.

Meanwhile, Egypt has recorded their second straight win at the continental showpiece, defeating South Africa 1-0 to book a place at the knockout stage. The Pharaohs currently sit on top of Group B, accumulating six points after two games.
