AFCON 2025: Comoros coach Stefano Cusin proud of team’s performance in defeat to Morocco
The head coach of Comoros, Stefano Cusin, praised the performance of his side in their 2-0 defeat to Morocco in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Comoros opened their campaign at the 35th edition of the AFCON on Sunday in a tough contest against the host nation.
In the Group A clash, two second-half goals secured a crucial win for Morocco to give the Atlas Lions a positive start to the tournament.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Stefano Cusin shared his content with the defensive display of his players, stressing that although they conceded two goals, they played well.
In his remarks, the gaffer accepted the defeat but added that the people of Comoros can be proud of the team’s efforts.
“We were solid defensively. But in this kind of game, when opportunity knocks, you have to take it. The team showed a good face, and Comorians can be proud of their country. We can’t say we played badly because conceded two goals. Had Rafiki score to make it 1–1, the scenario could have been different. Morocco are a great team; we have to accept defeat against such a side,” Cusin said.
Up next for Comoros at AFCON 2025, they will face Zambia in their second match on Friday, 26 December.
