AFCON 2025: Comoros captain Youssouf Mchangama vows strong performance against Morocco in opener

Comoros captain Youssouf Mchangama says his outfit will deliver a great performance in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opening game against Morocco.

In a high-stake clash on Sunday, the Atlas Lions will lock horns with Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with both teams seeking for a flying start to the tournament in the North African country.

The tournament, which kick start on December 21, runs until January 18, 2026, with 24 countries battling for the ultimate title.

For Mchangama, his outfit will enter the match without any inferiority complex and with great faith in the team’s ability to put on a respectable performance against one of the top contenders for the title.

“We have great respect for the Moroccan national team, but that respect doesn’t mean fear,” Mshangma said at the same press conference. “We will enter the match without any complexes, and we believe in our ability to deliver a great performance.”

Meanwhile, Mchangama has set sights on the AFCON title, insisting his outfit will fight until the end to honour their country.

“The Africa Cup of Nations is not won by names, but by what is presented on the field. We will fight until the last minute to honor the Comoros.” He concluded.
