Morocco forward Brahim Díaz has written his name into Africa Cup of Nations history after becoming the only player in the last 57 years to score in his team’s first five games of the tournament.

The Moroccan attacker opened his account in the group stage against Comoros and has since been unstoppable.

He continued his remarkable run by scoring against Mali and Zambia in the subsequent group matches, before netting in the Round of 16 clash against Tanzania.

His record-breaking streak was capped with a crucial goal in the quarter-final against Cameroon on Friday, January 9.

In doing so, Díaz has become only the second player in AFCON history to score against five different nations in a single tournament, matching Egypt’s Gedo, who achieved the feat in 2010.

The forward’s consistency and lethal finishing have been pivotal to Morocco’s impressive run in the competition.

If Morocco manages to eliminate Cameroon to reach the semi-finals, Diaz will be key for the Atlas Lions as they aim to complete what will be a delightful host and win.
