Morocco international Romain Saïss has been forced to withdraw from the squad FOR THE 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament following an injury setback in opener against Comoros.
The 35-year-old defender, who is the captain of the Atlas Lions was forced off with an injury after just 18 minutes into the highly competitive clash, held at the at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
Saïss was replaced by Jawad El Yamiq, as the North African giants cruised to a 2-0 victory over Comoros. Following scans on Monday, the Al-Sadd defender has been forced to pull out of the tournament.
However, coach Walid Regragui has summoned Youssef Belammari, who plies his trade for Raja Casablanca to replace to Sais for the continuation of the tournament on home soil.
The 27-year-old left-footed defender has made 15 appearances for the Morocco national team since making his debut in 2024.
This season, Youssef Belammari has made seven appearances for Raja Casablanca in the Moroccan top-flight.
