Head coach of Angola, Patrice Beaumelle has targeted a win against South Africa in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opener on Monday night.
The Palancas Negras lock horns with the Bafana Bafana at the Stade de Marrakesh in a crucial Group B match, with both teams seeking for a win.
According to Beaumelle, the Bafana Bafana carry favourites tag to win the 35th edition of the continental showpiece, which possess a lot pressure on the team than Angola.
“I don’t want to talk about the strategy but we are prepared for this match. Bafana Bafana are part of the teams that are favourites to win the competition, so that puts some pressure on them, and for us to be the outsiders is a good thing,” Beaumelle said as per SABC Sport.
“I think statistics gets people talking, but the reality is it means very little. The target for us is to beat Bafana Bafana and start in a good way because the AFCON is a long process, so the start is very important.”
It promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams will be yearning for the maximum points, marking a significant to the tournament.
