AFCON 2025: AMCI Fan Zone inaugurated for international students and laureates

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa have inaugurated the AMCI Fan Zone in Rabat, dedicated to international students and laureates of Moroccan cooperation.

In attendance was the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe as excitement grows for the continental showpiece, which will kick start on Sunday, Decemebr 21, 2025.

This Fan Zone was set up on the grounds of the Cité Universitaire Internationale de Rabat, which is managed by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI). More than 80 nationalities live in this area, representing 47 African countries.

Located on an area of ​​5,000 m2, the AMCI Fan Zone aims to welcome nearly 50,000 visitors throughout the 2025 AFCON. It places young people at the heart of this great continental celebration, making sport, arts and culture vectors of exchange, integration and sharing.

The Fan Zone also illustrates Morocco’s commitment to implementing the royal vision for an emerging and sustainable Africa, founded on active solidarity and promoting South-South cooperation. It reflects the central importance King Mohammed VI places on African youth.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of, among others, the Dean of African Ambassadors to Morocco, Mouhamadou Youssifou, African ambassadors accredited to Rabat, the Secretary General of CAF, Véron Mosengo-Omba, and the Ambassador Director General of AMCI, Mohamed Methqal. Ambassadors from African countries accredited to the Kingdom also participated, as well as numerous international students and recipients of Moroccan cooperation grants.

The Fan Zone offers live broadcasts of the 2025 AFCON matches on a giant screen, the organization of a football tournament dedicated to students, gaming and e-sports areas, eight artistic and cultural days, as well as four thematic conferences.
