Vladimir Petkovic, head of the Algerian national team, expressed deep anger despite his side reaching the Africa Cup of Nations last 16 with a perfect record.
Algeria topped Group E with 9 points and will face DR Congo in the round of 16 next Tuesday.
In comments reported by the Algerian newspaper El Khabar, Petkovic said he was “annoyed and angry” at the unacceptable behavior of some Algerian photographers who repeatedly followed his daughter.
He explained that several photographers had chased his daughter Leia, tried to film her from close range and even sought statements from her, although she does not want any media exposure and holds no official role.
El Khabar noted that Leia Petkovic appeared in multiple video clips trying to avoid the cameras.
The coach called on the Algerian Football Federation to act to stop this “intrusion” into his family life and protect his daughter’s privacy while he leads the Desert Warriors through the tournament in Morocco.
Algeria is currently preparing to take on DR Congo in the round of 16 on January 6th. The game will be played at the Stade Prince Moulay El Hassan.
