Alfredo Ribeiro shone brightest in Marrakech, earning Man of the Match as Angola and Zimbabwe battled to a 1–1 draw in their AFCON 2025 Group B clash at the Stade de Marrakech.
Alfredo Ribeiro was at the heart of Angola’s best moments, dictating play and constantly driving his team forward in a tense group encounter. His energy and influence in midfield underpinned Angola’s dominance for large spells, making his Man of the Match award a natural outcome.
Angola took a deserved lead midway through the first half when Gelson Dala finished a flowing move with a precise right-footed strike into the bottom left corner after a clever through ball from Tó Carneiro.
Zimbabwe hit back deep into first-half stoppage time, as Knowledge Musona finished calmly from the right side of the box following a swift break helped by Bill Antonio’s incisive assist.
Angola controlled possession after the break and created several openings but could not turn Ribeiro’s influence and their territorial advantage into a winner. Zimbabwe remained dangerous on the counter, and after four added minutes the sides settled for a draw that leaves both still chasing a first victory and crucial points in Group B.
