Former Cameroon international Alex Song has praised Morocco’s organisation of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, describing the host nation as a benchmark for football development on the continent.

Song said Morocco has evolved beyond being merely a competitive force on the pitch, emerging instead as a role model for African football systems. He noted that the Kingdom has become an example that other nations, including Cameroon, should study and emulate in their efforts to develop the game.

“Morocco is no longer just a competitor, but has become a role model in Africa for organising the football system,” he said.

According to remarks reported by Afrique Sports, the former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder based his assessment on Morocco’s demonstrated competence in modern infrastructure, detailed planning and a clear strategy for producing players capable of competing at the highest levels of world football.

Song described Morocco’s approach as “ideal,” stressing that it should inspire countries seeking both continental and international progress. He commended the achievements made through long-term strategic planning and well-considered decisions that have strengthened the country’s football structure.

He also highlighted the quality of technical training, the modernisation of sporting facilities and Morocco’s success in attracting and retaining top-level talent as key pillars of their success.
