Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara has praised the national team for their efforts at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite their elimination from the tournament at the quarter-final stage in Morocco.
In a message shared on his official account on the social media platform X, President Ouattara commended both the players and the technical team for their dedication throughout the competition.
“I commend the courage and commitment of the Ivory Coast national team players and the coaching staff,” he wrote.
He urged the nation to remain united and optimistic despite the setback, adding, “Football is full of victories and tests, let us remain united, confident, and proud of Ivory Coast.”
Looking ahead, the Ivorian leader expressed confidence in the future of the team, stating, “We will look ahead and participate in the 2026 World Cup… Long live the Elephants… Long live Ivory Coast.”
The reigning champions were knocked out of the tournament by Egypt, bringing an end to their title defence after lifting the trophy on home soil in the previous edition following a final victory over Nigeria.
