Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi praised his side’s dominant display following their 3-0 triumph over Zambia on Monday, a win that sealed the Atlas Lions’ top spot in Group A at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The hosts delivered a commanding performance at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, finishing the group stage with seven points and securing a place in the round of 16.
“I am happy today to be back playing and helping my teammates, and I am also happy with our performance. This is the spirit of the players and the fans; they were fantastic, and we thank them. This is what we need, especially as we are playing at home.”
The PSG right back added that the victory provides momentum for the knockout stages.
“We know that every match is important, and a performance like today gives us confidence. We achieved our first goal, which was topping the group, and now things get serious. We must recover and start preparing for the next rounds.”
Morocco will face the third-placed team from Groups C, D, or E in Sunday’s round of 16 clash, a test that promises to challenge their resolve.
