Abdoulaye Seck left the pitch in Tangiers with the Man of the Match award and a deep sense of satisfaction after heading Senegal towards a convincing 3–0 win over Benin in their final Group D game.
His towering first-half goal set the tone for a performance that underlined Senegal’s status as one of the favourites at this AFCON.
Seck spoke proudly about how the entire team embraced the challenge, knowing Benin would fight hard with qualification on the line. “I am delighted to have won the award but for me it was a collective team effort that led to this,” he said, stressing that the victory came from everyone’s work, especially after Senegal were reduced to ten men.
He highlighted the mental strength shown once Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off, praising the way Senegal stayed compact, defended together and still found the energy to push forward. For Seck, the clean sheet and group win mattered more than any individual honour.
