Ghana head coach Chris Hughton has named a 27-man squad going into the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
Having his first stint with a national side, this is going to be his major international tournament in the dugout.
The squad comprises a blend with players who have gathered a lot of experience alongside young ones. Skipper Andre Ayew, who is on the blink of equalling the record of Rigobert Song and Ahmed Hassan as players to appear at 8 AFCON tournaments.
The Ghana star has been at all African Cup of Nations between 2008 and 2021 with the exception of 2013.
His younger brother Jordan Ayew is also part of the squad with a lot of experience going into the continental showpiece this month.
Arsenal star Thomas Partey is conspicuously missing from the list as he is recuperating from an injury that has kept him out of action since October last year.
Three home-based players have earned their places, namely Abdul Fatawu Hamidu and Jonathan Sowah, all of Medeama and Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey.
Ghana plays in Group B alongside hot favourites Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique with all three group matches coming on at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny in Abidjan.
