Guinea head coach Kaba Diawara has unveiled his final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations set to take place in Côte d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The Syli Nationale will be making their fourteenth appearance at Africa’s biggest football event, making it a third successive participation for the first time.
Diawara has his set on improving the fortunes of the team in Cote d’Ivoire, having failed to go past the Round of 16 in the last two editions.
Guinea’s list can boast of experienced players such as Naby Keita, who is presently captain of the team and Issiaga Sylla, who is making a fourth appearance in the continental showpiece.
Former France youth international Mouctar Diakhaby made the list for his very first Africa Cup of Nations experience.
VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has been devastating in form in the Bundesliga this season, has been included in Diawara’s roster.
Guirassy has been sensational across all competitions since the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign with 19 goals in 16 appearances.
Guinea will be competing in Group C of the tournament coming up against Cameroon, title holders and neighbours Senegal, and The Gambia.
