Namibia head coach Collin Benjamin has issued a stern warning to opponents gearing up to face his team in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Despite being ranked 115th in FIFA’s December rankings, Benjamin expresses confidence in his team’s performance.

Placed in Group E alongside Tunisia, Mali, and their neighbours South Africa, the Brave Warriors are determined to make an impact.

Following a goalless draw against Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, in a pre-tournament test match,

Benjamin voiced his satisfaction with his team’s display, emphasizing their hunger and readiness for any challenge in Ivory Coast.

Drawing against a perennial favourite like Ghana showcased Namibia’s preparation and determination.

“Ghana is always a favourite in the African Cup of Nations, so handling them as we did demonstrates our team’s readiness. Our main objective this year is to surpass our previous tournament performance,” Benjamin affirmed.

Despite Namibia’s limited history in the Africa Cup of Nations, having only participated in 1998, 2008, and 2019 with group stage exits, Benjamin aims for a stronger showing in the upcoming competition, set to kick off on January 13, 2024.

The Brave Warriors are also chasing their first-ever win in the history of the AFCON tournament.
