The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has taken a firm stance against the escalating unprofessional behaviour exhibited by certain media practitioners during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
In collaboration with the Local Organising Committee (COCAN) and law enforcement, CAF convened to address the issue and devise practical solutions.
Expressing concerns about the conduct of some journalists in media tribunes, centres, and mixed zones, CAF emphasized the importance of maintaining professional standards.
Noting that football fans should enjoy the matches from designated seating areas rather than infiltrating the media tribune, CAF outlined specific measures to address misconduct.
Moving forward, any media practitioner engaging in disruptive celebrations, abusing colleagues, participating in physical altercations, or violating filming regulations will face immediate removal and the withdrawal of their accreditation.
CAF also prohibits the use of drones and emphasizes that media coverage inside the stadium is restricted to designated areas such as the media centre and press conference room.
These decisive actions underscore CAF’s commitment to upholding decorum and professionalism, ensuring a conducive working environment for media personnel covering the prestigious tournament.
