DR Congo Ready to Launch AFCON 2019 Campaign Against Uganda
The Democratic Republic of Congo will kick off its 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign on Saturday, June 24, facing Uganda in Group A.
The Leopards, making their fourth consecutive appearance at the tournament, aim to start strong and assert themselves in a group featuring hosts Egypt, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Led by star striker Cédric Bakambu, DR Congo will be looking to secure all three points in their opening match.
Midfielder Trésor Mputu emphasized the team’s commitment and focus, saying:
“We are going there with great commitment because we are prepared according to our means and limitations. The rest on the field will be up to God, to whom we ask for strength and wisdom so that things go well.”
The Leopards are determined to honor their nation and make a statement in Egypt, with ambitions to reach the AFCON 2019 final.
