Madagascar is keeping fans on the edge of their seats ahead of their debut at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Although CAF set the deadline for submitting the 23-man squad at midnight on Tuesday, June 11, coach Nicolas Dupuis has delayed the final public announcement. The Malagasy squad still lists 24 players, even though CAF has already received the official 23-man roster by the deadline.
The suspense adds pressure on the squad, ensuring every player gives their best in the final days of preparation. Madagascar’s Barea will begin the last phase of training on Wednesday in Morocco, with the final 23-man list to be confirmed after the camp’s last friendly against Mauritania on June 15.
Two domestic players, Sandratriniaina Tobiosoa Njajanirina and Andrianavalona Andoniaina Rakotondrazaka, have already been dropped, with their replacements to be announced shortly.
Madagascar is making its first appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations, drawn in Group B alongside Guinea, Burundi, and Nigeria.
