Guinea-Bissau returns to AFCON 2019 for its second appearance after debuting in 2017. Under coach Baciro Candé, who resumed his role in 2016 after an earlier eight-year stint, the team aims to build on the positive impression left in their first tournament, despite being eliminated in the group stage.
To qualify, Guinea-Bissau topped Group K in the qualifiers with 9 points, overcoming Namibia, Mozambique, and Zambia.
Drawn in Group F alongside Ghana, defending champions Cameroon, and Benin, the Os Djurtus (Wild Dogs) face a tough challenge. Key players include midfielders Zezinho (FC Senica) and Moreta Cassama (Stade de Reims), as well as forwards Frédéric Mendy (Setubal) and Piquetti Djassi (Al Shoulla).
Their Group F opener is against Cameroon on Tuesday, June 25 at 5 PM GMT.
