AFCON 2017 Qualifiers: Algeria Eye Second Win Against Lesotho in Maseru
Algeria will look to maintain their perfect start in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they face Lesotho this Sunday afternoon in Maseru, in Group J’s second matchday.
Despite the absences of key midfielders Sofiane Feghouli and Nabil Bentaleb due to injury, coach Christian Gourcuff will rely on a strong squad, including in-form winger Riyad Mahrez, who has recovered from a minor back issue.
The Fennecs are coming off a convincing win on Matchday 1 and are favourites against a Lesotho side ranked 128th by FIFA. However, the Algerians remain cautious, knowing that upsets are always possible in African football.
Algeria Starting XI:
Doukha – Zeffane, Mandi, Medjani (c), Ghoulam – Taider, Mesloub – Boudebouz, Mahrez, Brahimi – Slimani
Kickoff is expected in the afternoon, with Algeria aiming to consolidate their lead in Group J.
