CLINTON NJIE RULED OUT OF CAMEROON SQUAD FOR AFCON QUALIFIER AGAINST GAMBIA
Bad news for Cameroon ahead of their upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Clinton Njie, the striker recently signed by Tottenham Hotspur, will not be traveling to Gambia for the second round of qualifying matches, the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has confirmed.
Njie, who has yet to make his Premier League debut, has been sidelined for this international fixture. In response, head coach Volker Finke and his staff have called up Edgar Salli, who had been included on the provisional standby list released the previous week.
Despite Njie’s absence, the Indomitable Lions remain in a strong position. Cameroon currently top their qualifying group with 3 points, ahead of teams like South Africa.
