AFCON 2017: Mauritius’ Squad Against Mozambique

Mauritius Without Kevin Bru for Crucial AFCON Qualifier Against Mozambique

Mauritius will be without one of their key players, Kevin Bru, for Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique.

The Le Havre midfielder has withdrawn from the squad due to injury, dealing a blow to Akbar Patel’s side as they look to revive their qualification hopes in a tightly contested group.

In Bru’s absence, the coaching staff has welcomed the return of Colin Bell, a former club captain who had previously turned down call-ups to the national team. The experienced midfielder has now agreed to rejoin the squad to help steer the team in this crucial fixture.

Full Mauritius Squad:

Goalkeepers:
Kevin Jean-Louis (Pamplemousses SC)
Christopher Caserne (Roche-Bois Bolton City)
Eldon Lindor (ASPL 2000)

Defenders:
Damien Balisson (La Cure Sylvester)
Christopher Bazerque (AS Quatre Bornes)
Percy Buckland (PAS Mates)
Marco Dorza (ASPL 2000)
Kervin Rita (AS Quatre Bornes)
Stewart St-Louis (Curepipe Starlight)
Walter St-Martin (Pamplemousses SC)
Francis Rasoloforinina (ASPL 2000)

Midfielders:
Colin Bell (free agent)
Jonathan Bru (Red Star FC)
Adel Langue (Pamplemousses SC)
Christopher l’Enclume (Roche-Bois Bolton City)
Yohan Larhubarbe (AS Quatre Bornes)
Stéphane Pierre (La Cure Sylvester)
Fabien Pithia (Curepipe Starlight)

Forwards:
Andy Sophie (Pamplemousses SC)
Adrien Botlar (ASPL 2000)
Kervin Perticots (Pamplemousses SC)

The return of Bell is seen as a much-needed boost for Mauritius, whose campaign began with a defeat. Victory against Mozambique at home is essential if they are to remain in contention for a place at AFCON 2017.
