AFCON 2017 Qualifiers: Togo Travels to Djibouti for Group A Clash on September 4
Togo is set to face Djibouti in the second round of qualifiers for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The match will be played on Friday, September 4 in Djibouti, as part of Group A action.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed South Sudanese referee Ring Nyier Akech Malong to officiate the encounter. He will be assisted by fellow countrymen George Primato Olibo and Mangong Yuamic Peter, serving as first and second assistant referees respectively.
This will be a crucial match for both sides:
Djibouti suffered a heavy 8-1 defeat to Tunisia on Matchday 1 and will be looking to bounce back and restore pride in front of their home fans.
Togo, on the other hand, started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Liberia, and another win could solidify their position in the group standings.
Led by experienced players, Togo will be aiming to capitalize on Djibouti’s defensive struggles, while the home side hopes to pull off an upset and gain their first points of the campaign.
