AFCON 2015 – Group B: Singuluma’s Lightning Strike Stuns DR Congo
The Zambia vs. DR Congo clash in Group B of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations got off to an electrifying start, with Zambia registering the fastest goal of the tournament so far.
Just seconds into the match, Given Singuluma capitalized on a rebound following a poorly cleared cross by Congolese goalkeeper Robert Kidiaba. Positioned perfectly at the edge of the box, Singuluma unleashed a precise right-footed curling shot that found the back of the net. 1-0 for the Chipolopolo — a dream start.
Despite this early blow, the Leopards of DR Congo, led by the energetic Yannick Bolasie of Crystal Palace, mounted a series of dangerous attacks. Yet, the Congolese forward line, including Dieumerci Mbokani, failed to find the breakthrough before halftime.
With the score at 1-0 heading into the second half, Florent Ibenge’s men have it all to do if they hope to equalize — and possibly turn the match around.
