Algeria: Yacine Brahimi Fit to Face Ivory Coast in Quarter-Final Clash
Good news is coming from the Algerian camp ahead of their highly anticipated quarter-final against Ivory Coast in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations — Yacine Brahimi will be available for selection.
The FC Porto attacking midfielder, who had raised concerns after missing Saturday’s team training session at the Rebola stadium, reassured fans alongside coach Christian Gourcuff in the mixed zone:
“Yes, I’ll be there for the match,” Brahimi confirmed.
Suffering from back pain, the talented playmaker followed an individual program on Saturday, which included jogging on sand under medical supervision. He is expected to rejoin full team training before Sunday’s crucial fixture.
Brahimi’s presence is a huge boost for the Fennecs, as he has been one of Algeria’s key creative outlets in the competition. He started in the final group game against Senegal and is considered a pivotal figure in Gourcuff’s attacking setup.
The Ivory Coast vs. Algeria quarter-final will be played on Sunday, with both sides eyeing a place in the last four of CAN 2015.
