Gabon Lose Ecuélé Manga Ahead of Crucial CAN 2015 Qualifiers
Gabon’s national team has been dealt a significant blow ahead of their final 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, as Bruno Ecuélé Manga has been ruled out due to a calf injury.
The Cardiff City defender, formerly of Lorient, had been named in the 23-man squad announced by coach Jorge Costa, but will now miss the decisive fixtures against Angola (November 15 in Luanda) and Lesotho (November 19 in Libreville).
Fortunately for the Portuguese coach, a list of reserves had also been published, making it easier to identify a replacement without disrupting the team’s preparations.
Gabon currently sits top of their group with 8 points, and will look to maintain that lead despite the absence of their experienced defensive anchor.
