Ismaël Bangoura Hopes for AFCON Call-Up but Prioritizes Nantes
After a rare appearance this season, Ismaël Bangoura made a strong comeback by scoring a fine goal for FC Nantes in the Coupe de la Ligue last Tuesday. Despite being absent from the international scene recently, the Guinean striker hasn’t lost hope of returning to the Syli National squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking to Presse Océan, Bangoura expressed cautious optimism:
“I hope that with what I have done, everything will change. I am waiting for the call from the coach to know if I will be part of the selection because the list should be released on December 20.”
However, the 29-year-old forward also acknowledged the demands of club football and expressed his loyalty to Nantes:
“It would be a shame to go to the African Cup of Nations in January when FC Nantes has a lot of matches to play. My priority is still the club. Would not going to the African Cup of Nations be a disappointment? For me, no.”
As Guinea’s coach Michel Dussuyer prepares to finalize his squad, Bangoura remains hopeful but grounded—ready to contribute at either level.
