AFCON 2015: Gervinho Urges Teammates to Stay Focused Against the DRC

AFCON 2015 – Ivory Coast: Gervinho Urges Focus Ahead of DRC Semi-Final

Ivory Coast is riding high after back-to-back victories against Cameroon (1-0) and Algeria (3-1), but forward Gervinho is calling for calm and focus ahead of tonight’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash with the Democratic Republic of Congo in Bata.

“We had two great matches against Cameroon and then Algeria. We need to come back down to earth and focus on this match by approaching it in the best possible way,” Gervinho warned.

The Elephants, led by coach Hervé Renard, enter the match as favorites, buoyed by strong form and the return of key players like Gervinho, who found the net in the quarter-finals. However, caution is warranted — the DR Congo Leopards already defeated Ivory Coast 4-3 in Abidjan during the qualifiers and have proven to be one of the most resilient sides in the tournament.

Tonight’s clash promises a fierce battle for a spot in the CAN 2015 final.
