AFCON 2015 Qualifiers – Feghouli Leads Relentless Algeria to Fifth Straight Win
Already qualified, Algeria showed no signs of complacency as they cruised to a 3–1 win over Ethiopia in Blida, recording their fifth consecutive victory in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Despite Oumed Oukri putting Ethiopia ahead in the 21st minute, the Fennecs quickly reasserted their dominance. Sofiane Feghouli equalized in the 32nd minute, showcasing the home side’s resilience. Goals from Riyad Mahrez (40’) and Yacine Brahimi (45’) completed the comeback before halftime.
“We played a very good game. There was quality in our play, especially in the phases of play,” said Feghouli post-match to Le Buteur. “I think we were clearly superior to our opponent. The players showed maturity after conceding, and we could have scored even more.”
Feghouli, one of the standout performers, also emphasized the need for focus:
“After these five victories, we must not get carried away. We must keep our feet on the ground and continue to work very seriously. We have an African Cup of Nations to prepare for. We will try to maintain this same level once we are in Guinea.”
