ALGERIA: SOFIANE FEGHOULI COULD JOIN TRAINING CAMP LATE
Sofiane Feghouli may arrive three days late to the Algerian national team’s training camp, which is scheduled to begin on January 2nd, ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. The information was confirmed by his club Valencia CF, who want the winger to be available for their high-profile La Liga clash against Real Madrid on January 4th at Mestalla.
Valencia coach Nuno Espirito Santo stated at a press conference that the club has already contacted the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) to request that Feghouli be allowed to join the national team on January 5th, after the match.
However, since the AFCON is part of FIFA’s official international calendar, the FAF is under no obligation to accept Valencia’s request. As of now, no decision has been communicated by the Algerian federation.
Algeria is drawn into a tough Group C alongside Ghana, South Africa, and Senegal.
