Ivory Coast’s Hervé Renard to Miss Cheikh Tioté in AFCON Semi-Final
Ivory Coast coach Hervé Renard will be without midfielder Cheikh Tioté for the upcoming 2015 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against DR Congo. The Newcastle United player has been sidelined with a sprained ankle, ruling him out for at least a week and ending his tournament involvement.
Despite his injury, Tioté will remain with the squad in Equatorial Guinea to offer support to his teammates rather than returning home prematurely.
Ivory Coast secured their place in the semi-finals with a convincing 3-1 quarter-final victory over Algeria on Sunday, marking their ninth appearance at this stage of the competition.
