Ghana Welcome Back Gyan for Crucial Algeria Clash at AFCON 2015
Ghana head into their second Group C match at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations under pressure to deliver a result. Following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Senegal, the Black Stars must secure points against Algeria on Friday in Mongomo to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
Coach Avram Grant has received a significant boost with the return of captain and star striker Asamoah Gyan, who missed the opening match due to a bout of malaria. The striker, now fully recovered, returns to the starting lineup and is expected to lead the attack against a high-flying Algerian side.
Here is Ghana’s confirmed starting XI to face Algeria:
Goalkeeper: Razak Brimah
Defenders: Harrison Afful, Baba Rahman, Jonathan Mensah, Daniel Amartey
Midfielders: Afriyie Acquah, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Christian Atsu
Attackers: André Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Asamoah Gyan
With their captain back and a talented squad at their disposal, the Black Stars will be aiming to rise to the occasion in what is a must-win fixture against the Fennecs of Algeria.
