Aboubacar Mario Bangoura of Guinea has been appointed to officiate the crucial Group B encounter between Zambia and Tunisia at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the appointment ahead of the second round of group matches.
It will be a significant moment for Bangoura, who is officiating in his first-ever AFCON final tournament, marking his debut at this level of continental competition.
He will be supported on the touchlines by Songuifolo Yeo from Ivory Coast and Jerson Emiliano Dos Santos of Angola. The fourth official will be Bakary Papa Gassama of Gambia, one of Africa’s most experienced referees.
The match commissioner will be South Africa’s Daniel Alexander Jordaan, overseeing administrative and regulatory aspects of the tie.
The encounter is a pivotal one in Group B, with all four teams currently on a single point after the opening matches. Tunisia, who drew 1-1 with Cape Verde, will be looking to improve on their opening performance, while Zambia, who also played to a 1-1 draw against DR Congo, aim to make a stronger push for the knockout stages.
This assignment is seen as a test for Bangoura, who has impressed CAF officials with his performances in club and youth tournaments. He will now have the opportunity to prove himself on one of the biggest stages in African football.
