Adrien Tameze: France-Cameroon midfielder linked with AEK Larnaca move

France-Cameroon defensive midfielder Adrien Tameze, currently without a club after leaving Torino, is being linked with a move to Cypriot side AEK Larnaca. The 32-year-old is available on a free transfer following the end of his spell in Serie A and is understood to be on the radar of the Cyprus League club as they look to add experience in the centre of the pitch.

Tameze’s potential switch would represent a notable coup for AEK Larnaca given his extensive top-flight pedigree in Italy and France. He has made 188 Serie A appearances with Torino, Hellas Verona and Atalanta, as well as 71 outings in Ligue 1 earlier in his career, building a reputation as a specialist in the defensive midfield role. He also has Europa League and Champions League experience, including a goal in the Europa League.

The Lille-born midfielder joined Torino from Hellas Verona in July 2023 for a reported €2.8m fee and was once valued as highly as €10m, though his current estimated value has dropped to €1.2m after his contract in Turin came to an end this summer. His availability without a transfer fee is thought to make him an appealing target for clubs in smaller European leagues.

Born in 1994 and standing at 1.82m, Tameze holds both French and Cameroonian nationality and is a right-footed specialist at the base of midfield. For now he remains a free agent, assessing options for the next step in a career that has already taken in over 12,000 minutes of Serie A football.
