Adnan Bennasar: Moroccan defender joins Astorga on free transfer from Wydad Fes

Moroccan centre-back Adnan Bennasar has joined Spanish side Astorga on a free transfer from Wydad Fes. The defender moves into the Segunda Federacion – Group I after leaving the Moroccan club at the end of last season.

Bennasar has signed a deal with Astorga running until 30 June 2027, giving the Spanish outfit a year to assess the impact of their new defensive recruit. The move was completed on 29 July 2026, ahead of the new campaign in Spain’s fourth tier.

Primarily a centre-back, Bennasar arrives to strengthen the heart of Astorga’s back line as the club prepares for another season in the highly competitive regionalised division. His switch also underlines Astorga’s focus on recruiting from North Africa as they look to add experience from different footballing environments.

The Moroccan defender leaves Wydad Fes looking to establish himself in European football for the first time, trading the Moroccan game for the challenges of the Spanish league system. His ability to operate in central defence gives Astorga additional depth in a key area of the pitch.

With his contract in place until the summer of 2027, Bennasar’s transfer from Wydad Fes to Astorga is confirmed as a free move ahead of the 2026–27 season.
