Adil Rami has launched a scathing attack on Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal, criticising the teenager’s off-field behaviour and public persona.
The French-Moroccan defender took to social media to express his displeasure, saying he has lost patience with the Spain international despite acknowledging his exceptional football talent.
Yamal, born in Spain to a Moroccan father and Equatoguinean mother, has emerged as one of the brightest young stars in world football.
Still only 18, he played a key role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph and continues to shine at Barcelona.
However, his growing profile has not impressed everyone, with Rami taking exception to his public image and attitude.
“For two months now, on a human level, I haven’t been able to stand him anymore. I don’t care if Barça or Yamal fans disagree,” Rami posted.
“Football-wise? Nothing to say, he’s a phenomenon and will win trophies. But on a human level… fans… Is that clear?”
Rami referenced Yamal’s behaviour during the Nations League final between Spain and Portugal, particularly his interaction with Cristiano Ronaldo, as the starting point of his discontent.
He further criticised the forward’s fashion choices, gestures, and perceived lifestyle, claiming Yamal “thinks he’s an American rapper” and calling it “unbearable.”
“He showed up, took a size 10, and put diamonds on himself. He thinks he’s an American rapper. It’s unbearable.”
