Adil Bourabaa receives first Algeria senior call-up

Adil Bourabaa has received his first senior call-up for Algeria after Nabil Bentaleb’s injury created an opening in the national team’s midfield.

The 21-year-old Le Mans player was initially expected to join Algeria’s Under-23 squad, where he serves as captain. Instead, his excellent start to the season has earned him promotion to the senior group, giving him a chance to train alongside the country’s leading players.

Bourabaa’s selection is not simply the result of Bentaleb’s absence. The midfielder has been one of Le Mans’ most influential performers, scoring three goals and providing two assists in five Ligue 1 appearances. His creativity and consistency have made him one of the division’s standout early-season players.

His rapid rise is particularly striking. Just eight months ago, Bourabaa was still playing in the fourth tier of French football. He has since established himself as an important figure for Le Mans and attracted the attention of Algeria’s new coaching staff.

Bourabaa may not immediately receive his first cap, but the opportunity allows him to show that he can compete at international level. Algeria will face Zambia and Burundi in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying before meeting Niger in a friendly on October 6.
