Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini criticised Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman after the player missed a penalty kick during the team’s Uefa Champions League clash against Club Brugge.
Lookman who did not start the crucial second-leg tie came on at halftime and immediately made an impact, scoring in the 46th minute to give hope to the Italian Serie A side.
However, in the 63rd minute when Atalanta was awarded a penalty kick, Ademola Lookman went from hero to zero.
He stepped up to take the penalty, but the Club Brugge goalkeeper saved his poor effort down the middle.
Speaking in a post-match interview after Atalanta crashed out of the Uefa Champions League, Gian Piero Gasperini described Ademola Lookman as one of the worst penalty-takers he has ever seen.
“Ademola Lookman is one of the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen,” the Atalanta manager said.
The tactician continued, “He wanted to take the penalty after scoring a goal, he took the ball despite Retegui and De Keteleare available to take it… I didn’t like what Lookman did.”
