Adel Bettaieb: Tunisia winger joins Esperance on free transfer from FC Arges

Tunisia-born winger Adel Bettaieb has joined Esperance from Romanian side FC Arges on a free transfer, signing a contract with the Tunisian club until 30 June 2028.

The 29-year-old left-sided attacker, who holds both Tunisian and French nationality, makes the move after one season in Romania’s SuperLiga, having arrived at Arges in 2025, also on a free transfer. His switch to Esperance was completed on 23 July 2026.

Bettaieb arrives in Tunis with a listed market value of €900,000, the highest of his career to date, underlining the regard in which he is held after several years across European leagues. Standing at 1.84m and preferring to play off the left while using his right foot, he offers Esperance a different profile in wide attacking areas.

Before his spell at FC Arges, Bettaieb built an itinerant career that has taken in clubs in Turkey, Romania and Luxembourg. He previously represented Universitatea Cluj and ACSM Poli Iasi in Romania, as well as Boluspor and Umraniyespor in Turkey.

His most notable success so far came with F91 Dudelange in Luxembourg, where he was part of the squad that won the national championship in the 2021-22 season. That title-winning campaign helped pave the way for his move into Turkish football and, subsequently, to Eastern Europe.

Bettaieb now returns to North Africa with Esperance, committing his peak years to the Tunisian club in a deal that runs for two seasons.
