Adama Niane: Mali striker joins FC Saint-Martin on free transfer from Legentus FC

Mali forward Adama Niane has joined French side FC Saint-Martin on a free transfer from Legentus FC.

The 33-year-old centre-forward, born in Bamako, makes the switch after a short spell with the United Arab Emirates-based club, which he joined in January 2026 following a period without a team. His move to FC Saint-Martin was completed on 16 July 2026.

Niane, a right-footed striker standing 1.81m tall, brings extensive experience across European and Asian football to his new side. He has previously featured in France’s top two divisions, Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League, the Persian Gulf League, the Indian Football League and the Azerbaijani Premyer Liqa.

His most prolific spell came in France, where he scored 30 goals in 84 Ligue 2 appearances and added eight goals in 36 Ligue 1 matches. He was Ligue 2’s top scorer in the 2016-17 season with 23 goals while at Troyes, a campaign that marked the peak of his market value at €3m.

After leaving Troyes, Niane had stints with R Charleroi SC and KV Oostende in Belgium before returning to France with FC Sochaux and USL Dunkerque. More recently he has played for FC Nassaji in Iran, Kapaz PFK in Azerbaijan and Gokulam FC in India, interspersed with short periods as a free agent.

Niane now joins FC Saint-Martin on a permanent deal as the club look to add proven goalscoring experience to their attack.
