Achraf Hakimi has resumed outdoor training as he continues his recovery from a minor right-thigh injury, moving closer to a return for Paris Saint-Germain.
The Morocco international completed an individual session on Friday, marking a new stage in his rehabilitation programme. Paris Saint-Germain said in its latest medical bulletin that the right-back was continuing his planned return to training, but the club did not give a date for his return to competitive action.
Hakimi was forced off in the 39th minute of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 match against Brest last Sunday, in the fourth round of the French championship.
Medical examinations carried out the following day confirmed that he had sustained a minor injury to his right thigh. The club said he had since been following a specific treatment programme.
His availability for next Sunday’s top-flight meeting with Olympique de Marseille remains uncertain. A decision will depend on how his physical condition develops and on assessments by Paris Saint-Germain’s medical and coaching staff.
Paris Saint-Germain are attempting to build momentum in Ligue 1 after recording their first victory of the season in their most recent match. They had previously drawn two games and lost one, leaving them seventh in the table with five points.
Morocco selection
Hakimi’s progress is also being monitored by Morocco, after head coach Mohamed Wahbi selected him in the squad for the team’s upcoming fixtures.
The “Atlas Lions” are due to face Gabon on 25 September before travelling to play Lesotho on 29 September. They will then meet Ghana in a friendly in Tangier on 4 October.
His return to individual work gives Morocco an indication of his progress, although his involvement in those matches will depend on his recovery and his eventual clearance to play.
