Sebastian Desabre, the coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo national team, expressed his complete satisfaction with how they managed to face off against Africa’s top-ranked team in the match held on Sunday.
This encounter marked the second round of Group Six clashes in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Desabre, in the post-match press conference, highlighted the only point of contention, which was the early goal conceded to Achraf Hakimi, before managing to level the score in the second half.
“I am very proud of the players, and the energy and abilities they showcased in the game.
We demonstrated beautiful aspects today, performed well, and were able to score the equalizing goal,” stated Desabre.
He continued, saying, “It’s true that we didn’t win, but we haven’t been defeated yet.
We aimed to secure victory in the match, and we could have, but we also need to acknowledge the value of the Moroccan national team and the players they possess.”
With this draw, “The Atlas Lions” elevated their points to 4, solidifying their lead in Group Six, while the Democratic Republic of Congo collected 2 points.
It’s worth noting that the Moroccan national team will conclude its group stage matches in the Africa Cup of Nations next Wednesday, facing Zambia at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro, Ivory Coast.
