Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has omitted Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi from the squad named for Friday’s league clash against Auxerre, despite the defender having returned to training after the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Hakimi, who captained Morocco during the tournament, was back with the Parisian side in training this week.
However, Enrique opted not to include him in the matchday group as he continues to assess the full-back’s condition following his international commitments.
Explaining his approach, the Spanish coach had earlier emphasised the need for a personal discussion with the player.
“I want to speak individually with Achraf Hakimi, this is very important, to know how he feels physically and psychologically,” Enrique said.
He added that the decision on Hakimi’s availability would be made after that conversation, noting, “After that, I will decide whether he will play against Auxerre.”
