Achraf Hakimi injury puts Paris Saint-Germain’s Marseille and Morocco fixtures in doubt

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi is a major doubt for next Sunday’s meeting with Olympique de Marseille after suffering an adductor injury.

The Morocco international started Sunday’s match against Brest and made a positive opening to the game, but was forced off in the 39th minute.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique said after the match that Hakimi had injured his adductor muscle. The defender is now expected to undergo further medical tests to determine the extent of the problem.

Hakimi is considered increasingly unlikely to feature when Paris Saint-Germain face Marseille on Sunday, 20 September. His injury could also keep him out of Morocco’s upcoming international fixtures.

The international break will begin after the next round of Ligue 1 matches and will last for three weeks.

Morocco are scheduled to play two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches during that period. They will face Gabon on 25 September before meeting Lesotho on 29 September.

Paris Saint-Germain’s next match after the Marseille fixture is against Le Mans on 10 October.
