Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has received a one-match ban, with an additional game suspended, following his straight red card in PSG’s recent clash with Strasbourg.
The French League’s disciplinary committee has handed down the sanction.
The Moroccan international was sent off for a violent challenge on Strasbourg’s Panichelli, marking a rare disciplinary setback for Hakimi since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Having featured in only two matches so far this season, against Newcastle and Strasbourg, Hakimi now has a brief period to recover and regain full fitness.
As a result of the suspension, Hakimi will miss the highly anticipated Classique against Marseille next Sunday.
He is expected to return to action on February 13 when PSG face Rennes, just days ahead of the first leg of their Champions League play-off against Monaco on February 17.
