Achraf Hakimi gives PSG injury boost before final

Achraf Hakimi has given PSG a timely boost ahead of the Champions League final by saying he is feeling better and is working toward being fully ready for the match.

The Morocco right-back has been out since the first-leg semifinal injury against Bayern Munich on April 28, but his recovery now appears to be moving in the right direction.

“I’m feeling better,” Hakimi said. “I still have a little work to do, but I hope to be at my best for the final.” That update will ease some of the concern around Paris, where his absence has been closely monitored in recent days.

Reports from France suggest Hakimi has followed his recovery plan carefully and has not rushed back too soon. PSG are optimistic he could return to full training later this week, which would strengthen Luis Enrique’s options before the final against Arsenal on May 30.

For PSG, Hakimi’s pace and width could be crucial in a game of fine margins. If he is fit enough to start in Budapest, he would give the holders a major boost in their bid to defend the title.

Hakimi has made 12 appearances, scored one goal and assisted six in the UEFA Champions League this season.
