Achraf Hakimi has committed his long-term future to Paris Saint-Germain, signing a contract extension that will keep him at the club until June 2029.
The Moroccan international outlined the key factors behind his decision in an interview with L’Equipe.
One of the primary reasons for his extension is PSG’s continued ambition to compete at the highest level.
The 25-year-old full-back highlighted the club’s long-term project as a major influence in his choice to stay in the French capital.
“The first thing is the ambitious project in Paris,” Hakimi stated. “There are still many things to achieve with PSG, and I want to be part of that journey.”
Another crucial factor was the playing philosophy introduced by head coach Luis Enrique.
Hakimi has flourished under the Spanish tactician, and he expressed his admiration for the tactical system in place at the Parc des Princes.
“There is also the style of play of the coach that I like a lot,” he explained. “I enjoy working in this system and believe it suits my game well.”
Beyond tactical considerations, Hakimi emphasized the unity within the squad as a decisive factor in his commitment to the club.
He spoke about the strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support among the players, which has contributed to PSG’s recent successes.
“The team we have built is now like a big family,” he added. “We play for each other, and that is the most important thing.
When everyone is on the same page, it gives you confidence to play your game.”
Since joining PSG from Inter Milan in 2021, Hakimi has established himself as one of the best right-backs in world football.
His attacking prowess, defensive discipline, and ability to contribute in key moments have made him a vital asset for the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
With his future now secured, the Moroccan star will look to continue making an impact at PSG as they chase both domestic and European glory.
His contract extension signals his firm belief in the club’s vision and his desire to help shape its future success.
