Achraf Hakimi explains his role at PSG
Achraf Hakimi has offered a clear view of how he sees his role at Paris Saint-Germain, and it reflects the modern demands placed on full-backs.
The Moroccan defender said he is not trying to “revolutionize” the position, but he is fully comfortable with the responsibilities that come with it.
In his remarks to Onze Mondial, Hakimi explained that the job of a full-back is very different from what it was ten years ago. He said the position now requires more flexibility, whether that means drifting inside to help build play or staying wide to stretch the opposition. Hakimi added that he is ready for both tasks and feels his qualities suit the role very well.
He also pointed to Dani Alves as a major inspiration, praising the Brazilian’s high-level performances in the same position. Hakimi said Alves showed him what a top modern full-back should look like and expressed hope that younger players can one day see him in the same light.
At PSG, that versatility makes Hakimi more than just a runner on the flank. He has become a key tactical piece in a team that values movement, intelligence, and shared responsibility across the pitch.
