Interim Al Ahly coach Emad El Nahhas has admitted that Achraf Dari’s injury complicated things for his side despite their win.
The Moroccan defender was forced off in the 44th minute after sustaining the injury, prompting a substitution just before halftime, with Yasser Ibrahim stepping in to replace him.
However, Ahly laboured to record a 3-2 win against Petrojet on Wednesday night at the Military College Stadium, in the Egyptian Premier League.
Speaking to the press, El Nahhas praised his side for the hard-fought win.
“The players played a strong match, for which they deserved praise, against a strong competitor who are having a very distinguished season.
“The victory was important after the exit from the African Championship, and we talked a lot with the players about the importance of the coming period, and I sensed a sense of cohesion among everyone, which was a major reason for the victory.
“We achieved many gains, as more than one player regained their scoring instinct. We faced difficulties during the match, especially with the missed opportunities and the injury of Achraf Dari,” he added.
El-Nahhas also thanked the Al-Ahly fans who attended the match and everyone who supported the players, praising their role in giving the team great motivation.
